Plan Commission

The Plan Commission holds public hearings relating to petitions for rezoning, subdivision plats, development plans, and amendments to local zoning ordinances.

As defined by law, in matters of rezoning and amendment petitions, the Plan Commission acts in an advisory capacity by making a recommendation and forwarding the petition to the County Board of Commissioners, as the legislative body of the county, for final action. In matters regarding subdivision plat approval, the Plan Commission action is final, and is not forwarded to the Board of Commissioners.

There are filing deadlines for petitions to the Plan Commission that must be met before a public hearing will be scheduled. Please call the Plan Commission office for additional information.
