Citizen Board Appointments

The Porter County Council is seeking citizen applicants for position(s) on the following board(s) and/or committee(s). 

Interested applicants must complete and submit an Application For Board Appointment (PDF) and starting at this point in time, please submit a Background Check Release Authorization by the published deadline. Depending on the vacancy, certain requirements, such as residency and/or certain political party affiliation must be met for some appointments.

Board Appointments for 2026  (Term Lengths and Requirements)

The Porter County Council would like to announce that the following boards have positions that need to be filled in March 2026: 

1. Ambulance Service Committee Board Position – 1 year term length                                                                                                       (No political affiliation necessary)
2. Porter Economic Development Commission (EDC) Board Position – 1 year term length                                                                       (No political affiliation necessary) 
3. Valparaiso Economic Development Commission (EDC) Board Position – 1 year term length                                                                 (No political affiliation necessary)

Individuals interested in being considered for a board position may visit the Porter County Council office, 155 Indiana Avenue Suite 207, Valparaiso, IN. to obtain an application. Applications can also be generated at the Porter County website on the Council Citizen Board Appointments page.

The public/applicants should be aware that certain requirements, such as residency, and/or certain political party affiliation, must be met in order to qualify for a particular appointment.  If the requirements mandated are not met, you cannot be considered for the position. BEFORE applying, therefore, please contact the office of the Board to which you’re applying to first determine whether you qualify for the position.

The applications must be received no later than March 13, 2026 and the final decision will be made at a public meeting in March 2026.
