Funding Process

Each year through 2038 (if funds are available), the Porter County Opioid Committee will award up to $125,000 to organizations or individuals who submit successful applications. Below is an easy-to-follow overview of the funding process:

2025 Funding Timeline

  • Application Period: Submit your application between January 1st and January 31st, 2025.
  • Review Process: Starting February 1st, the committee will:
    1. Vet, review, score, and rank all completed applications.
    2. Select the top 5 to 10 applicants to present their proposals directly to the committee.
  • Final Decision:
    • After discussions and reviews, the committee will recommend up to five finalists to the Porter County Commissioners and County Council.
    • The Commissioners and County Council will vote on the grant award winners.
  • Notification: Winners will be notified of their awards on or before May 1st, 2025.
  • Funds Usage: Winning applicants have one year from the award date to spend the funds.

Funding Process for 2026 and Beyond

  • Committee Selection: Each January, the Commissioners and County Council will appoint committee members during their reorganization meetings.
  • Application Period: Submit your application between February 1st and February 28th (or 29th in a leap year).
  • Review Process:
    • Starting March 1st, the committee will:
      1. Vet, review, score, and rank all completed applications.
      2. Invite the top 5 to 10 applicants to present their proposals.
  • Final Decision:
    • After final reviews and discussions, the committee will recommend up to five finalists to the Commissioners and County Council.
    • The Commissioners will provide their recommendations, and the County Council will make the final decisions on fund allocation.
  • Notification: Winners will be notified of their awards on or before May 1st of each year.
  • Funds Usage: Winners have one calendar year to utilize the awarded funds.
