The Board of Commissioners are vested with the responsibility and authority to appoint citizens to local government boards and committees. Vacancies may arise when an appointee’s term expires or upon resignation. When vacancies do occur, announcements seeking citizen applicants are made public through press releases to local media, on the Porter County Government Facebook Page and on the homepage of this website. Interested applicants must complete and submit an Application For Board Appointment (PDF) and Background Check Release Authorization by the published deadline. Depending on the vacancy, certain requirements, such as residency and/or certain political party affiliation must be met for some appointments.
The applications must be received via email at melanie.griffin@portercountyin.gov or in person at 155 Indiana Ave, Suite 205, Valparaiso, IN 46383 no later than December 31st at 4:30pm.
